COINS Film Fest 2017

Colombo International Student Film Festival (COINS) is the first and only international students film festival in Sri Lanka. COINS is an academic event highlighting talents of students all around the world. It is not only a film festival but also a platform to introduce new talent to the world of cinema.

COINS Film Festival 2017 mainly comprises of several segments which will include a series of film workshops, a digital cinema technology exhibition, film screenings and a competition followed by a red carpet grand finale with an award ceremony.

    COINS උළෙලට හෙට දවසේ ලාංකේය සිනමාවේ අද දවසේ දොරටුව යැයි පැවසීම ඉතා සාධාරණය. ශී‍්‍ර ලංකා පදනම් ආයතනයේ ඩිජිටල් සිනමා ඇකඩමිය මගින් මූලිකත්වය දරා 2011 වසරේදී ආරම්භ කරන කොළඹ අන්තර්ජාතික ශිෂ්‍ය චිත්‍රපට උළෙල හෙවත් COINS චිත්‍රපට උළෙල 2014 වසරේදීත් සාර්ථක පිම්මක් පැන 2017 වසරට පැමිණියේ වඩාත් පන්නරයක් සහිතව අතිසාර්ථක උළෙලක් සංවිධානය කිරීමටය. සඳහන් කළ යුතු විශේෂත්වයක් වන්නේ මෙය දැවැන්ත අන්තර්ජාතික කටයුත්තක් වුවද උළෙලේ කාර්යයන් බොහොමයකට උර දෙන්නේ ඩිජිටල් සිනමා ඇකඩමියේ සිනමාව හදාරන විද්‍යර්ථීන් වීමයි.

Masterclass

We are opening up for pre- registration for the Master class program in Colombo International Student Film Festival (COINS) 2017. The Master class will conduct by veteran Indian Cinematographer Sunny Joseph and the theme of the master class is ‘Image making in Cinema’. We are having limited seats available, make yourself registered immediately. Pre registration is compulsory.

SUNNY JOSEPH - CINEMATOGRAPHER / DIRECTOR

Sunny Joseph is an Indian cinematographer and a director from Kerala. Most known for his work in Shaji N. Karun classic, Piravi, for which he won the 1988 Kerala State Film Award for Best Photography.

He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Cinematography from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and he is also the General Secretary of Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC).

Piravi, the film he had cinematographed for Shaji. N. Karun became a landmark in Indian Cinema.

COINS Cinema Expo

An exhibition is held on all three days of the festival where participants get to explore the world of filmmaking from all three stages; pre – production , production and post- production with a focus on the evolution of cinema technology. This will be held in collaboration with Cinemaya Museum, Fine vision, Prana Studio, VR Filming, AMATT, Art Circle , Dil Films, and Cine Pro.

COINS Workshops

The first day of the festival (7th September) is dedicated for school students where will there will be two separate workshops designed for them.For each workshop we would like to invite maximum number of ten students who are above 16 years of age and a teacher. Please download the application form, complete it and send your nominations before 31st August.
